Statement for DD Form 4

if beyond contractual ETS for Reenlistment

Soldier reenlisting AFTER their original (contractual) ETS will have the following statement included on the DD Form 4:

"Soldier retained on active duty from (day after original ETS) to (day before reenlistment) for the convenience of the government, under 10 USC 12305."

for Extension AFTER contractual ETS

Soldiers extending after their original ETS are authorized an antedated extension from their original ETS date.

"Antedated extension authorized by HQDA. Soldier retained on active duty for the convenience of the government, under 10 USC 12305."

Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) while deployed

Deployed Soldiers not meeting the qualifications of paragraph 3-8e(2) of AR 601-280, (pass APFT within 9 months of reenlistment date), and are unable to be administered an APFT through no fault of their own, are eligible to reenlist, if otherwise qualified.
