Soldiers who desire to reenlist or reclassify into MOS 89D (EOD), must initiate their request with a Letter of Intent Statement

Note:  Use of the EOD Letter of Intent statement eliminates the need to submit a request using a DA Form 4187

To apply for entry into EOD, Soldiers must:

A.  Download an EOD Letter of Intent statement (above)

B.  Complete and fax Letter of Intent Statement to the EOD Recruiting Detachment at Fort Bragg at at commercial (910) 432-1637 or DSN 239-1637 or scan and email to one of the EOD Recruiters

C.  Receive an EOD briefing and MOPP / Bomb Suitability Test from local EOD Detachment

D.  Conduct records review and EOD interview

E.  Initiate security clearance check

F.  Conduct 90 days on-the-job training (OJT), when possible

The EOD Recruiting Team will pre-qualify Soldier for EOD training and notify Soldier of their eligibility to process for retraining in EOD.  The EOD Recruiting Team will instruct all Soldiers that pass this initial screening on hw to contact their local EOD company for scheduling of EOD briefing, and EOD suitability test, and an EOD interview at the nearest EOD detachment or battalion.  If accepted, it is the Soldier's responsibility to submit the EOD Volunteer Statement and EOD Acceptability Letter to their local Career Counselor who will submit the request via RETAIN to HRC for processing.  Submission of request to HRC does not guarantee approval of reclassification or reenlistment training.  Soldiers approved for retraining into EOD may be eligible to participate in the Bonus, Extension, and Retraining (BEAR) Program.  Information and qualification for the BEAR Program can be obtained from servicing Career Counselor.

The EOD Recruiting Team is responsible for notifying Soldier's Chain-of-Command of Soldier's desire to participate in EOD training.
